SEMARANG – The Korpri Papua Women's Volleyball Team followed in the footsteps of athletes from other sports who also won an absolute victory at Pornas XVI Korpri Central Java 2023.
Competing at the State Islamic University (UIN) Walisongo Semarang Campus, Saturday (15/7/2023), the Korpri Papua Women's Volleyball team won in three straight sets (25-14, 25-15 and 25-14) against the Indonesian Ministry of Law and Human Rights.
The Regional Secretary of Papua Derek Hegemur felt grateful for the victory of the Papua Women's Volleyball team. Moreover, the victory was achieved decisively.
"We are grateful for these few games we have won, some of them winning hands down. For that, I urge all athletes to continue to maintain health (heading to the next match)," he appealed.
Meanwhile, the coach of Korpri Papua Women's Volleyball, Frengki Saweri, revealed that the positive results of his team could not be separated from the hard training they underwent and the support of the Korpri Papua management.
His side is determined to continue to maintain the victory in the next match, with the target of winning the group standings.
"At the beginning of the match, the Papua Volleyball team looked "slow to heat", because the athletes did not warm up. Our playing time was cut 30 minutes early. We understand that the conditions of the area are not possible, but we started to climb at the top of the third set until we win," he said.
It is known, the Korpri Papua Women's Volleyball team will play the second match against the Ministry of Communication and Informatics of the Republic of Indonesia on Sunday (16/7/2023), then meet West Kalimantan Province on Monday (17/7/2023). ***
