JAYAPURA – River Basin Organization (BWS) of Papua held a clean-up of the river action in Kali Acai, in Abepura, Jayapura City, Papua, Thursday (27/07) morning.
This activity is in commemoration of National River Day in 2023 and also welcomes the implementation of the 10th World Water Forum in Bali.
Chairman of the Committee, Mohammad Fauzi SP.,ST. MT said the activity carried the theme "Clean River for Life and Nature".
The activity, which involved as many as 200 people from the ranks of BWS Papua, organization and other PUPR Centers, aimed to invite local residents to care about the cleanliness of the river environment.
"Rivers are very important in community life, so awareness to maintain rivers must always be notified to all stakeholders," said Fauzi.
In addition to cleaning river activities, a Joint Commitment Signing was also held by leaders from 7 centers of the Ministry of PUPR in the Papua region related to Rainwater Harvesting.
"The agreement was made that each hall will make 100 bio-pore holes around their respective offices and housing," he said.
Previously, a video competition about river care at the high school/vocational level and an MSME Bazaar were held.
Head of BWS Papua, Nimbrot Rumaropen told reporters that the choice of Kali Acai as a clean location because Kali Acai is one of the rivers in the middle of densely populated residential areas, and often overflows during heavy rains. ***
