JAYAPURA - The Papua Provincial Government held a Taptu (timing) ceremony and Torch Parade, Wednesday (16/8/2023) night.
The event was held in order to welcome the 78th Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia in 2023.
From the observation of journalists, the Taptu ceremony, which was centered on the courtyard of the State House Dok V Atas Jayapura, took place solemnly.
The agenda continued with the release of the Torch Parade by the Papua Police Chief, Irjen Mathius Fachiri, witnessed by the Coordination Forum for Regional Leaders of Papua.
The torch parade then ended at the Jayapura Governor's Office, which was received directly by the Acting Governor of Papua Muhammad Ridwan Rumasukun.
"This is a Taptu and Torch Parade activity which was attended by representatives of National Armed and Police Forces, civil servants and students. After the taptu, a torch parade was carried out from the State House, released by the Papua Police Chief to the Governor's Office, Jayapura".
"After that, it was followed by the consecration of Heritage Flag Hoisting Troop and holy contemplation at TMP Waena. Tomorrow (Thursday, ed) the peak will be held a Flag Raising Ceremony at the Mandala Stadium in Jayapura, at 10.00," explained Assistant Secretary of Papua for Economic and People Welfare, Suzana Wanggai as Chairman of the Committee for the 2023 Indonesian Independence Day of Papua Province, on the sidelines of the event.
Suzana also on that occasion officially invited the public to enliven the commemoration of the seconds of the proclamation at the Mandala Stadium in Jayapura.
"Let's enliven our presence and see how our independence ceremony is, which will be decorated with a series of paramotor attractions, marching bands from SMU 4, and aubade from 1,200 students of SMP 1."
