JAYAPURA - After the expansion of new autonomous regions in Papua, there are still areas that are difficult to reach by public transportation in Papua Province.
According to Papua Acting Regional Secretary Derek Hegemur, people in remote, undeveloped, and frontier areas still need education about money.
"Our remote community needs physical education to know about counterfeit money. To foster a sense of nationalism, build togetherness and better economic growth," said the Regional Secretary in Jayapura on Tuesday.
Therefore, the Regional Secretary welcomed the Sovereign Rupiah Expedition (ERB) which is part of efforts to introduce rupiah to the people in the remote area. It should even be an annual program.
"The ERB has been carried out five times in Papua Province. So, we strongly support its implementation," he said.
According to Derek, through this activity, people in the 3T area, in particular, can get to know the pictures of rupiah bills and exchange money.
"Moreover, there is also the absorption of Unfit for Circulation Money (UTLE) in the community," he said.
Derek, on the occasion, appreciated Bank Indonesia and the Indonesian Navy for their efforts to ensure the availability of clean money to the outer islands of Papua Province.
