Numfor – To accelerate Internet penetration in Papua, during his working visit to Numfor Island, Biak Numfor District, the ActingGovernor of Papua, Muhammad Ridwan Rumasukun handed over VSAT for four locations in the local area, Saturday (25/4/2024).
VSAT submission is a program to provide public information infrastructure to the Papua Communication and Information Agency for the 2024 fiscal year.
Acting Governor Ridwan said that developing Papua requires joint work in all sectors, including strengthening internet access. He also expressed his gratitude to relevant agencies that have initiated efforts to accelerate internet penetration throughout Cenderawasih Earth.
Meanwhile, the Biak Numfor Regional Government received internet access (VSAT 6 Mbps) public sharing for 4 locations, namely Puskesmas Saribi (Numfor Island), SMP N 1 Kameri (Numfor Island), SMP N 2 Padaido and VSAT M-Internet Biak Communication and Informatics Office.
Head of the Papua Communication and Informatics Agency, Jeri A. Yudianto said the internet assistance provided was aimed at supporting digital literacy services in the local area.
"It is the assistance provided by Kominfo Papua to support the acceleration of Internet penetration in Papua, with the main locus of public places or facilities that have not been reached by fixed broadband operators yet. At the same time as the complement for the existing programs of the central government."
"But later specifically in the city of Jayapura, the provision of internet access via free Wi-Fi will target villages and will be allocated in villages in Skouw, Yoka and Nafri.
