JAYAPURA - The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of Papua recorded exports in its region in May 2024 worth US$6,380.98 thousand, an increase of 89.12 percent compared to the previous month which was worth US$3,374.10 thousand.
By the type, Papua's exports this month are oil and gas exports and non-oil and gas exports.
"In May 2024, exports from Papua Province consisted of oil and gas exports worth US$0.72 thousand, exports of timber and wood goods (HS44) worth US$6,091.47 thousand."
"Then fish and other aquatic animal exports (HS03) worth US$92.48 thousand and other non-oil and gas exports amounted to US$196.31 thousand," explained the Head of Papua Central Statistics Agency, Adriana Carolina in Jayapura City, Wednesday (19/6/2024).
Meanwhile, the value of Papua's imports in May 2024, continued Adriana, was recorded at US$ 4,248.66 thousand or an increase of 1,048.58 percent when compared to imports in April 2024 which were worth US$ 369.91 thousand.
"In May 2024, imports from Papua Province are in the form of goods from the machinery and mechanical equipment class and their parts (HS84) worth US$143.50 thousand."
"Then goods from the coffee, tea, and spices group (09) worth US$ 25.47 thousand, goods from the processed group of meat, fish, crustaceans, and molluscs (16) worth US$ 0.75 thousand. Furthermore, goods from the seeds and fruits group contain oil (12) worth US$ 0.17 thousand, and come from other oil and gas groups worth US$ 1,456.32," she explained.
It is known that the top four export destination countries of Papua are Australia worth US$3,880.59 thousand (60.81%), South Korea worth US$1,642.14 thousand (25.73%), New Zealand worth US$ 379.68 thousand (5.95%), and Papua New Guinea worth US$200.48 thousand (3.14%).
Meanwhile, the top four countries of imports to Papua are Vietnam worth US$4,076.45 thousand (95.95%), Australia US$95.68 thousand (2.25%), Japan worth US$36.22 thousand (0.85%), and Papua New Guinea worth US$26.42 thousand (0.62%). ***
