JAYAPURA - The Papua Provincial Government's seriousness in improving the investment climate in Papua continues to be carried out. It was followed up in the Monitoring, Analysis, Evaluation, and Reporting Coordination Meeting in the field of risk-based business licensing which was held on Thursday, December 5, 2024.
This activity aims to ensure the progress and strategic efforts discussed to speed up and simplify the licensing process.
One of the main challenges faced is the lack of synchronization of authority between agencies and the limited number of integrated digital systems.
For this reason, the Papua Provincial Government is committed to strengthening coordination and encouraging the digitization of the entire licensing process. "With digitalization, we hope that the time needed to obtain a business license can be shorter. Transparency is also very important so that the process carried out is no longer faced with unnecessary obstacles," said Acting Regional Secretary of Papua, Yohanes Walilo in his remarks by the Acting Governor.
Walilo emphasized that the Government will continue to strive to create a conducive business ecosystem in Papua. "We will continue to make improvements and innovations so that the licensing process is more efficient, transparent and accountable," he added.
The discussion in this coordination meeting focused on several main points such as Understanding Licensing Authority where the Regional Work Unit is expected to understand the limits of their respective authorities to avoid conflicts or procedural errors, the role of the Licensing Technical Team in understanding its duties and responsibilities, including in the delegation of authority in certain sectors that require special attention, Pending Licensing Completion which is urgent and affects investment in Papua is a priority to be completed immediately, Strengthening Digitalization by maximizing the use of digital systems in the licensing process so that it is expected to accelerate services and increase transparency.
In addition, the Papua Investment and One-Stop Integrated Services Office (DPMPTSP) is a "leader" who is the spearhead in licensing management as well as an institution responsible for the entire licensing process so it is hoped that DPMPTSP can play a role in maintaining public trust through effective and efficient services.
With this Coordination Meeting, the Papua Provincial Government hopes that the synergy between agencies will be stronger so that the business licensing process can run smoothly and have a positive impact on the development of Papua. ***
