JAYAPURA – Yudian Wahyudi, the Head of the Indonesian Agency for Pancasila Ideology Education (BPIP), visited Papua to deepen the understanding and practice of Pancasila values. (June 12)
During this trip, the BPIP chief toured the Skouw State Border Post (PLBN) and gathered input from various stakeholders about the importance of strengthening Pancasila values, especially for teachers, lecturers, students, and communities in border areas. He also introduced several programs to be implemented in partnership with the Papua Provincial Government.
These include providing 24 Pancasila comprehension textbooks for schools and universities, as well as the “Pancasila in Action” program, which involves supplying bore wells to communities in need. “Instilling Pancasila values cannot be done through theory. The process should emphasize 30% knowledge and 70% practice, so that the public can directly experience the benefits and meaning of Pancasila in daily life,” said Yudian. Meanwhile, Acting Governor of Papua, Ramses Limbong, expressed appreciation for BPIP’s visit and said that Papuans are increasingly feeling a stronger sense of belonging as part of Indonesia.
He also highlighted the necessity of developing Papua’s youth potential through Pancasila-based education and encouraged inter-agency collaboration and cultural activities to reinforce national values. “We are grateful for BPIP’s ‘Contemporary Pancasila’ program, which is highly relevant to the current needs of the Papuan people,” said Ramses Limbong. ***
