JAYAPURA – Acting Governor of Papua, Ramses Limbong, stated that Cenderawasih University (Uncen) still requires serious attention in efforts to improve the quality of education and human resources in Papua.
Ramses made this statement while accompanying the working visit of the Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia, Prof. Brian Yuliarto, to Cenderawasih University in Jayapura, Papua, on Thursday (July 3).
“With the presence of the Minister, the quality of higher education in Papua can hopefully advance further in the future,” said Ramses Limbong.
According to him, Uncen is the only public university in Papua and deserves greater attention from the central government.
“Papua is beautiful, fertile, and peaceful. We hope to build synergy with the university in managing Papua’s natural wealth,” he expressed.
He also appreciated the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Higher Education for establishing a grand hospital in Papua.
He believes that the hospital’s presence is expected to bring major changes for the people and serve as a facility for the development of medical education at Uncen.
Meanwhile, Minister Brian Yuliarto stated that his visit to Papua is part of the government’s commitment to strengthening the role of universities in 3T regions (disadvantaged, frontier, and outermost) to drive social and economic transformation.
“The government is committed to providing inclusive and equitable higher education, especially in 3T areas like Papua,” he affirmed. ***
