JAYAPURA – The Papua Provincial Government has handed over documents and data related to palm oil plantation permits to the governments of South Papua and Central Papua Provinces.
These documents, submitted to the New Autonomous Regions, are the result of an evaluation conducted by the National Strategy Team for Corruption Prevention (STRANAS-PK).
The handover was carried out directly by the Assistant II to the Papua Regional Secretary, Setiyo Wahyudi, as part of the delegation of licensing authority to each respective province.
Setiyo explained that previously, the licensing process was still under the authority of the Papua Provincial Government. However, now that the two New Autonomous Regions provinces have definitive governors, the licensing documents have been officially transferred.
“Most of the documents handed over still require improvements in governance,” he said on Friday (July 4).
The governance improvements refer to discrepancies between data in location permits, Plantation Business Licenses, and Land Use Rights, particularly regarding land area.
In addition to improvement recommendations, some companies have also been proposed for license revocation.
“One company has been recommended for license revocation due to non-compliance with regulations. However, the final decision on revocation lies entirely within the authority of each respective province,” he emphasized. ***
