JAYAPURA – Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian expressed his appreciation for the performance of the Acting Governor of Papua, Ramses Limbong. The statement was made during the inauguration of Agus Fatoni as his successor on Monday (July 7, 2025).
Tito stated that Papua had remained relatively politically and socially stable over the past year. This was considered one of the positive achievements during Ramses’s tenure.
“Papua has been relatively calm, under control, and safe. I thank him for his dedication,” said Tito in Jakarta.
He noted that Ramses’s leadership had brought improvements to Papua's situation following the creation of new provinces.
Tito also explained that the leadership transition was part of routine leadership refreshment. He considered Ramses to have fulfilled his duties well, especially in internal government affairs.
“I rarely needed to visit because the situation there was quite good,” Tito added.
He expressed hope that Agus Fatoni would continue the progress that had been started.
The inauguration of Agus Fatoni as Acting Governor of Papua took place at the Ministry of Home Affairs Office in Jakarta. The event was attended by Papua’s regional leadership coordination forum, local government heads, and Regional Government Work Units leaders from Papua Province. ***
