JAYAPURA – Acting Governor of Papua, Agus Fatoni, officially launched 999 Koperasi Merah Putih spread across all villages and sub-districts in the province. The launch took place at the Koperasi Merah Putih in Holtekamp Village, Muara Tami District, Jayapura, Papua, on Monday (July 21, 2025).
“Today, we have just witnessed the launch of the Koperasi Merah Putih for the village. In Papua, there are 999 villages and sub-districts, and all of them have held special village meetings,” said Fatoni.
To date, the establishment progress has reached 999 cooperatives, all of which have gone through the meeting process. 645 of them have already been officially established and have obtained legal entity status.
“There are still some obstacles, but we are addressing them. Hopefully, we can reach 100% completion soon,” he added.
Some of the challenges include geographical distances between villages. To overcome this, the Papua Provincial Government is issuing power of attorney from the cooperative boards to the Head of the Department, who will then meet with notaries.
“Another issue was related to identity cards, which we’ve resolved through digital ID recording and domicile letters. We’ve also recorded the reference numbers for those letters. We’re doing all of this, and hopefully, we’ll reach 100% completion soon,” Fatoni explained.
During the event, Fatoni toured several facilities at the Koperasi Merah Putih of Holtekamp. One of the highlights was the minimarket, which already offers various services such as basic food items, logistics via Pos Indonesia, BRI Link services, and a Bright Gas LPG outlet.
Fatoni also inspected the clinic provided by the cooperative, including checking the inventory at Mitra Kimia Farma Pharmacy. During his visit, he even had his blood pressure checked by the on-duty doctor, with a result of 118/70, which he proudly stated as excellent and normal.
The event was also attended by several dignitaries, including the Commander of Military Regional Command XVII/Cenderawasih, the Navy Base Commander X, Silas Papare Air Force Base Commander, Papua Provincial Secretary, Chief Prosecutor, Regents of Keerom and Sarmi, and Deputy Mayor of Jayapura. Also present were various heads of regional departments such as the Department of Manpower and Cooperatives, Department of Communications and Informatics, Department of Fisheries, Department of Agriculture and Food Security, Department of Livestock and Animal Health, along with other guests. ***
