SARMI – Acting Governor of Papua, Agus Fatoni, personally checked the readiness of the Sekolah Rakyat located in Sarmi Regency. He stated that the school should be ready for use by July 30.
“This Sekolah Rakyat will be ready by July 30, and the students are prepared to start learning,” said Fatoni after he visited the school in Sarmi, Papua, on Friday (25/07/2025).
Fatoni mentioned that the Sekolah Rakyat in Sarmi is overall in good condition. He inspected the construction progress, including classrooms, dormitories, and several laboratories provided for students.
“The classrooms are quite comfortable, the sports field is ready, and the facilities and infrastructure are in place. In Sarmi, everything is well prepared,” Fatoni remarked.
Specifically, the school at this location will host 100 high school students from various districts within Sarmi Regency. They will be divided into four learning groups.
“There will be 100 students divided into 4 classes, and each dormitory will house 4 students. The rooms are spacious and comfortable,” he explained.
As is known, there are four Sekolah Rakyat in Papua Province, located in Jayapura Regency, Yapen Islands, Sarmi, and Biak Numfor. These schools operate as boarding schools to serve students from remote and hard-to-reach areas.
Fatoni emphasized that the presence of Sekolah Rakyat will greatly support the improvement of human resource quality in Papua.
“Papua is ready to support Sekolah Rakyat for a future generation of excellent and competent human resources for a more advanced Indonesia,” he concluded. ***
