JAKARTA – Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs, Meutya Hafid, described President Prabowo Subianto’s address at the United Nations General Assembly on Tuesday (September 23, 2025) as a bold declaration of Indonesia’s position on the global stage. (September 24, 2025)
In his speech, the President reaffirmed Indonesia’s readiness to deploy up to 20,000 peacekeeping troops to Gaza or other conflict zones, should such a mandate be given by the UN.
“The President wants to demonstrate that Indonesia is not merely speaking about peace—we are prepared to contribute, through our troops and even financial support. This sends a powerful message: Indonesia will not remain silent,” Meutya stated in Jakarta on Wednesday (September 24, 2025).
She explained that this commitment reflects Indonesia’s own historical experience with colonialism and injustice. “That is why, when the President says, ‘power cannot define truth; truth must stand as truth,’ it resonates deeply with the world,” she added.
According to Meutya, the President’s initiative also highlights that developing countries, such as Indonesia, can play a crucial role in shaping global affairs. “Indonesia does not stand idle; we propose solutions. We want to be a nation that inspires hope—not only for Palestine, but for humanity,” she remarked.
She further stressed that the President’s statement on Palestine reaffirms Indonesia’s unwavering support for a two-state solution: an independent Palestine living side by side with a secure Israel. ***
