JAYAPURA – Ahead of the inauguration of the definitive Governor and Deputy Governor of Papua, Acting Governor of Papua, Agus Fatoni, called on all civil servants to remain united, professional, and focused on delivering quality public services. He emphasized that the leadership transition must proceed smoothly and in an orderly manner without disrupting government performance.
“We must all continue to work optimally and maintain a conducive working environment. Regardless of who the leader will be, civil servants must remain loyal and professional in serving the public,” said Fatoni after leading the joint civil servant assembly in Jayapura on Monday (October 6, 2025).
According to Fatoni, the Papua Provincial Government is still awaiting confirmation from the central government regarding the exact date of the inauguration. The initial plan was set for October 8, 2025, but the schedule may be adjusted to align with the President’s agenda.
“We are still waiting for confirmation on the inauguration date. The plan is for October 8, but there is no fixed date yet as it depends on the President’s schedule,” he explained.
Fatoni further emphasized that leadership transitions are a normal part of the governmental system. Therefore, civil servants are urged to maintain their commitment and responsibility in carrying out ongoing public service duties.
Previously, the Papua Provincial Legislative Council, through a plenary session, appointed Mathius D. Fakhiri and Aryoko Rumaropen as the elected Governor and Deputy Governor of Papua for the 2025–2030 term. ***
