JAKARTA – President Prabowo Subianto inaugurated the Governor and Deputy Governor of Papua for the 2025–2030 term on Wednesday, October 8, 2025. The inauguration ceremony took place at the State Palace in Jakarta, where Matius Fakhiri and Aryoko Alberto Ferdinand Rumaropen were officially sworn in as the Governor and Deputy Governor of Papua.
The inauguration was carried out based on Presidential Decree of the Republic of Indonesia Number 108/P of 2025 concerning the Dismissal of the Acting Governor and the Ratification of the Appointment of the Governor and Deputy Governor for the 2025–2030 term. The decree was read by Nanik Purwanti, Deputy for Civil Service Administration at the Ministry of State Secretariat.
Following the reading of the decree, President Prabowo administered the oath of office to the newly appointed officials.
“I swear that I will remain faithful to and uphold the Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia of 1945, and that I will carry out all laws and regulations as truthfully as possible, for the sake of my service to the nation and the state,” recited the President, dictating the oath of office.
After the oath-taking, President Prabowo affixed the rank insignia to the Governor and Deputy Governor of Papua for the 2025–2030 term. The two officials then signed the minutes of the inauguration.
The event concluded with congratulations extended by President Prabowo and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka, followed by other attending guests. The inauguration ceremony was also attended by the speakers and deputy speakers of state institutions, ministers and deputy ministers of the Red and White Cabinet (Kabinet Merah Putih), the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) Commander, General Agus Subiyanto, and the National Police Chief, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo. ***
