JAYAPURA — The Papua Provincial Government has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening regional expenditure governance by following up on recommendations from Indonesia's Supreme Audit Agency. The government views the audit results not merely as an administrative evaluation, but as a reference point for improving the regional financial management system.

The commitment was conveyed by Papua Deputy Governor Aryoko Rumaropen when receiving the Audit Report on Compliance and Performance of Regional Expenditures for Fiscal Years 2024 and 2025 from the Papua Representative Office of the Audit Agency in Jayapura on Wednesday (15/1/2026).

"On behalf of the Papua Provincial Government and all the people of Papua, we express our appreciation and gratitude to the Papua Representative Office of the Audit Agency for carrying out the audit professionally, independently, and with integrity," Aryoko said.

The Deputy Governor explained that the audit was conducted over approximately 60 calendar days. According to him, the examination is an important part of ensuring that every rupiah of public money is managed in an orderly manner, in compliance with regulations, efficiently, and with a focus on results.

Aryoko emphasized that the Papua Provincial Government accepts all audit results, including the notes, findings, and recommendations provided. He assured that the Audit Agency recommendations would be followed up on seriously, promptly, and responsibly.

"We declare our full readiness to accept all audit results, whether in the form of appreciation or notes, findings, and recommendations that need to be followed up immediately," he said.

According to him, the Audit Agency recommendations are an important instrument for improving systems, strengthening internal controls, and promoting clean, transparent, and accountable governance. He added that compliant and high-performing regional expenditure management is also a foundation for realizing the vision of "The Transformation of a New, Advanced, and Harmonious Papua."

Aryoko further stated that sound budget management would have an impact on improving the quality of public services, especially in the health, education, and regional economic development sectors. He said that effective and well-targeted regional spending also helps drive economic growth, empower MSMEs, build productive infrastructure, and create jobs.

The Deputy Governor reminded all heads of Regional Apparatus Organizations to use the audit report as material for real improvement, not merely as a formality. He also called on all levels of the Papua Provincial Government to strengthen synergy and communication with the Audit Agency as a strategic partner in overseeing state finances.

"With good collaboration, we can build a regional financial management system that is increasingly solid, adaptive, and responsive to the needs of the community," he said. ***
