JAYAPURA — The Papua Provincial Forestry and Environment Agency has provided training to 11 schools in Jayapura through a technical guidance program on making eco enzymes.
The Secretary of Provincial Forestry and Environment Agency, and resource person for the eco enzyme production process, Aries Toteles Ap, said the training aims to equip students with the skills to process organic waste into useful products, especially for fertilizing plants in the school environment.
"We hope students will have the ability to protect the environment by making use of the potential around them," he said.
He added that after taking part in the training, schools are expected to be able to independently produce eco enzyme and support environmentally oriented school programs, including Adiwiyata.
"After the students take part in the technical training, they will be able to develop the skills needed to protect the natural environment around them," he said.
This activity is part of the series of events commemorating National Waste Awareness Day, which is observed every February 21. In addition to the training, Papua Provincial Forestry and Environment Agency is also carrying out environmental clean-up activities.
The peak commemoration will also include a joint assembly, which is planned to be attended directly by Papua Governor Matius D. Fakhiri. ***
