JAYAPURA — The Papua Provincial Government has reaffirmed its commitment to building an inclusive, equitable, and sustainable education system by considering the region's distinctive geographical, social, and cultural conditions.
This commitment was conveyed by Papua Governor Matius D. Fakhiri in a written speech read by Expert Staff for Social Affairs and Human Resources, Orgenes Kambuaya, during the 2026 Regional Consolidation for Basic and Secondary Education in Jayapura on Thursday (February 26).
In his remarks, the governor stressed that every child has the right to quality education without discrimination.
"This consolidation activity is in line with the vision of the Papua Provincial Government, namely, 'Realizing the Transformation of Papua into a Smart, Prosperous, and Harmonious Papua,'" the governor said in the speech read by Orgenes Kambuaya.
This year's consolidation theme, "Strengthening the Collective Effort to Improve the Quality of Education in Papua Province," was seen as reflecting that the success of educational development is a shared responsibility.
"We must believe that Papua's future is greatly determined by the quality of education today. This consolidation is expected to produce strategic, concrete, and measurable steps," he concluded.
Meanwhile, Head of the Papua Provincial Education Quality Assurance Agency, Junus Simangunsong, said the forum marked an initial step in implementing national education policy in Papua through a collaborative approach.
"This is only the first step; then we will look for solutions through discussions and input from all stakeholders related to priority programs in basic and secondary education," he concluded. ***
