JAYAPURA — The Papua Provincial Government has opened a complaint mechanism for workers who do not receive their holiday allowance ahead of Eid al-Fitr. The service is being provided through the Papua Manpower Office to ensure that companies fulfill workers' rights.
Acting Head of the Papua Manpower Office, Jimmy A.Y. Thesia said that workers can report directly to the Papua Manpower Office in Dok IX, Jayapura, if they experience problems in receiving their holiday allowance.
"As soon as there is a complaint, we will immediately process it and seek clarification from any company that has not paid the allowance," he said in Jayapura on Tuesday (March 3, 2026).
In addition to opening the complaint channel, the regional government reminded all companies operating in Papua to pay allowances to employees who celebrate Eid al-Fitr.
"We urge all companies in Papua Province to pay attention to the allowance payments for every employee observing the holiday, especially Eid al-Fitr," Jimmy said.
He stressed that holiday allowance payments must be made no later than 14 days before the holiday, in accordance with the applicable regulations.
According to Jimmy, during the previous Christmas celebration, there were no reports of delayed or unpaid allowance by companies. The regional government hopes that the same level of compliance will be maintained during this year's Eid al-Fitr period. ***
