JAYAPURA — Papua Governor Matius D. Fakhiri attended an iftar gathering at Al-Mu'minun Mosque, Papua Regional Police Headquarters, on Friday (March 6).
After breaking the fast and performing the Maghrib prayer in congregation, the Governor continued with the Isya and Tarawih prayers at Baiturrahim Grand Mosque in Jayapura City.
The Governor said that the Ramadan Safari is a form of the regional government's presence among the people while also strengthening togetherness and the values of brotherhood during the holy month.
"This Ramadan Safari activity is a momentum to strengthen the bonds between the regional government and the community, while also reinforcing togetherness in carrying out worship during Ramadan," he said.
He explained that similar activities would also be held in a number of areas across Papua as part of the Papua Provincial Government's Ramadan Safari series.
"The regional government wants to ensure that all people can carry out worship according to their respective religious teachings safely and with full solemnity," he said.
On that occasion, the Governor of Papua also expressed appreciation to all members of the public who have continued to maintain harmony and tolerance among religious communities in the Land of Papua.
"We thank all Papuans who always uphold tolerance and harmony in religious life," he concluded. ***
