JAYAPURA — The Papua Provincial Government has begun finalizing preparations for Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah through a cross-agency coordination meeting in Jayapura. The meeting discussed various aspects of public services during Ramadan through the Eid homecoming period.
Papua Governor Matius D. Fakhiri said the regional government needs to ensure that all public needs can be met, including the availability of necessities and the smooth distribution of those goods in the market.
"Today we held a coordination meeting regarding the handling of Eid al-Fitr. We need to ensure the availability of staple goods and monitor price developments in the market," Fakhiri said on Wednesday (March 11, 2026).
The coordination meeting involved a number of agencies and stakeholders related to public services ahead of Eid, including Pertamina, PT PELNI, airlines, and the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency.
According to the Governor, cross-sector coordination is needed so that logistics distribution, transportation services, and weather information can be properly monitored during the homecoming period and the Eid celebration.
The Papua Provincial Government will also continue monitoring conditions in the field to ensure that the public can observe Ramadan and celebrate Eid al-Fitr safely and comfortably, with adequate support from the availability of essential goods. ***
