JAYAPURA — The Papua Provincial Government has finalized the draft of the Papua Provincial Medium-Term Regional Development Plan 2025–2029, which will next be submitted to the Papua Regional People's Representative Council for discussion and enactment as a Regional Regulation.
Acting Head of the Papua Provincial Regional Development Planning, Research, and Innovation Agency, Muflih Musaad, said that the preparation of the Medium-Term Regional Development Plan document had gone through some stages, including the Development Planning Deliberation, which served as a forum to align various inputs and regional development aspirations.
"For the Medium-Term Regional Development Plan, today we have completed the draft. After the Development Planning Deliberation, we made a number of revisions to move into the final draft stage. Next, the document will be submitted to the Papua Regional People's Representative Council to be discussed and enacted as the Regional Regulation of the Medium-Term Regional Development Plan," Muflih said.
According to him, the Medium-Term Regional Development Plan is a regional development planning document that contains the policy direction for Papua Province's development over the next five years, namely 2025–2029.
However, in its initial preparation stage, the focus has been placed more on the 2025–2026 period, considering that the deadline for completing the document is set for April 8.
He added that the Medium-Term Regional Development Plan document will later become the main reference for implementing the governor's vision and mission, as well as the direction of regional development policy over the next five years.
"This Medium-Term Regional Development Plan will serve as a guideline so that all regional government programs can run in line with the governor's vision and mission," he said.
In the document, the Papua Provincial Government has set out around 17 priority development programs and six flagship programs of the governor, which will be implemented gradually starting in 2026. ***
