JAYAPURA — The Papua Provincial Government has ensured that staple food supplies remain secure ahead of Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah. The monitoring was carried out directly by Papua Governor Matius D. Fakhiri through a surprise inspection at Hypermart Mall Jayapura on Tuesday (March 17, 2026).
The inspection was conducted to ensure that supplies of necessities are available and that prices remain stable in the days leading up to Eid.
According to Fakhiri, modern markets play an important role in maintaining the availability of goods needed by the public during Ramadan and up to Eid al-Fitr.
"This modern market can help prepare the availability of staple goods in facing religious holidays," Fakhiri said.
He said that staple food supplies for the public come not only from modern markets, but also from traditional markets, which serve as community trade centers.
"These stocks are available in both markets, modern and traditional, so people can continue shopping safely ahead of the holiday," he said.
The Papua Provincial Government will continue to monitor price developments and the distribution of staple goods throughout Ramadan and up to Eid al-Fitr to ensure that public needs are met and that market prices remain stable. ***
