JAYAPURA – The government continues to promote improvements in the quality of education by implementing deep learning as part of national policy. This approach is considered important in developing quality human resources.
The message was conveyed by Minister of Primary and Secondary Education Abdul Mu'ti in a speech read by Papua Governor Matius D. Fakhiri during the 2026 National Education Day ceremony in Jayapura on Saturday, May 2, 2026.
"In essence, education is a process carried out sincerely to humanize people. If we want to advance the nation, we must improve education, starting from the classroom," Fakhiri said, reading the minister's remarks.
According to him, strengthening learning does not stand alone but is supported by various other policies, such as digitalization in education, improving teacher competence, and strengthening literacy and numeracy.
The government is also paying attention to more inclusive access to education so that all communities can receive equal education services.
In its implementation, the role of teachers remains the key to educational success. Therefore, the government is preparing various programs to strengthen the capacity of educators, including training and scholarships.
"Various policies to improve the quality of education will not succeed without a progressive mindset, strong mentality, and clear mission," he said. ***
