JAYAPURA – The Papua Provincial Government is improving its corruption control system through the 2026 Corruption Control Effectiveness Index evaluation. This step is part of efforts to improve governance within regional government agencies.
The evaluation is being conducted through assistance involving all regional government organizations, with guidance from the Financial and Development Supervisory Agency.
Papua Regional Secretariat Assistant I Yohanes Walilo said there are still several aspects that need improvement in the internal control system.
"There are still several areas that need to be addressed. Therefore, this evaluation must be followed by concrete steps in each regional government agency," he said in Jayapura on Tuesday (May 5, 2026).
According to him, corruption control should not stop at regulations, but must be reflected in daily work patterns.
He emphasized that the involvement of all regional agencies is an important factor in strengthening the oversight system.
"This improvement cannot be carried out individually. All regional agencies must move together so that the control system can run effectively," he added.
The Papua Provincial Government hopes this evaluation can encourage more accountable and sustainable governance improvements. ***
