JAYAPURA - The Acting Governor of Papua, Muhammad Ridwan Rumasukun officially launched the National Immunization Week (PIN) Polio program at the Papua Province level.
The launching took place in Poiru District, Numfor Island, Biak Numfor Regency, during a working visit by Governor Ridwan with the Chairman of the Papua PKK, Linda Onibala and some Heads of Regional Apparatus Organizations (OPD), Saturday (25/5/2024).
In his speech, Governor Ridwan stated that the Polio immunization is very important for children, because it is a national program that must be succeeded by local governments. In addition, it aims to create a golden generation in 2045.
"These children must be well prepared because they are the next generation to continue development in the future," said Ridwan.
He hopes that the Polio immunization program can run smoothly not only in Numfor but also throughout Papua. "The point is that we have done polio immunization coverage throughout Papua reaching 100 percent," said Ridwan.
Finally, he asked all stakeholders and the community to jointly succeed in the implementation of the Polio immunization.
"If all children are immunized, they can avoid polio," he said
Along with the launch of the Polio immunization, the Papua Provincial Government also distributed assistance to residents to accelerate stunting reduction. Among them are vitamins, maternity packages for pregnant women, additional food, milk and others.
Head of the Papua Health Office, Robby Kayame invites all parents to voluntarily bring their children to get the polio vaccine.
"So that our children can avoid polio and become the golden generation in 2045," he said. ***
